Thank you to the Cicero Town Board, Josall roofing, and many others the roof on the one room schoolhouse has been replaced!
April 13th was the first open house of the year. Spring cleaning is incorporated into the first open house. In addition to the C.H.S members, we had a lot of help from Boy Scout Troop 333. The scouts and their leaders were a huge help in cleaning up the schoolhouse and the grounds surrounding it.
As you can see from the pictures, there is still some work to be done inside the schoolhouse from the roof leak. Paint is peeling from the ceiling, and there is some damage to the floor. Here are more pictures of Spring Cleaning.
We have some big events planned at the schoolhouse and at the South Bay Fire Department coming up in May we will have a speaker representing the Liverpool Willow Museum. Joan Cregg is the village of Liverpool Historian. She will talk about the willow weaving industry in Liverpool because it’s the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal she will combine the importance of that to the willow industry. She has photos and baskets to display. This will take place May13th @7:00.
On June 24th, the Cicero Historical Society and the South Bay Fire Department will present author Jack Henke. He will be discussing his latest book about Oneida Lake. There will be books available for sale, percentage of the sales will go to the Cicero Historical Society.
Keep an eye on us, lots of big things coming!
